Here it is. After 2 days of absence. The day before yesterday I had a migraine and yesterday I was just flat out lazy. It was glorious. I did do some work, but no painting.
I’m going to confess something. I do not like saying I hate a painting because the ones I hate are usually the ones everyone else loves. I also don’t like saying I love a painting because maybe people will think I don’t like ones that they like. That being said, […]
I was hoping to catch up on the 3 paintings this week, but my gallery asked if I could finish the boy and the dog before Saturday. They are having an art crawl. I’m going to try. I’ll probably count it as one of my 30 in 30.
Like the previous two years, we stopped in Kentucky for a week. The dogs were in heaven. So was I. Due to the warm weather, the trails were pretty crowded. We only had one day with them to ourselves, so we decided to improvise and I showed them how I […]
I finally made it to Apalach. I’ve worn myself out. I slept 11 hours last night and I was asleep before 8pm. It looks like I may have a repeat tonight too. I swear, it felt like I was taking it easy amid the stress, but my body says otherwise. […]
Anytime I was hesitant about taking a chance, my grandmother would say, “Valerie, put yourself in the path of lightning.” –Valerie Jarrett Lola says, “No, I’m comfy, but by all means, you get up and work. I’ll just stay in bed awhile longer.”
I have to hurry so I can get my tire fixed and back on the road. It’s been fun Alabama, but I’d like to hit Florida today. Luckily, it is an inside tire on my rear duals so I can limp to the service station instead of having someone come […]
I wanted to try being loose and more expressive with my lines. It actually took me longer to do this one than any of the most recent. Yesterday, the dogs and I went for a hike and by the time I was able to paint, I was so worn out, […]

This one was fun. I found images of a new model. I was asked, “How do you know when it’s done?” The answer: When I like more of it than I dislike and fixing what I don’t like will mess up what I do like. Or when my timer goes […]
One thing I think makes sketchbooks truly beautiful, aside from the obvious, is lettering. I am very envious of those with beautiful handwriting along side their drawings. You would never guess I spent a summer learning cursive before we had even had it in school. Or that I had a […]
This one had me feeling a little bored as I painted. I don’t know if it was the pose, 10 days of painting figures, or the long day messing with solar panels. I’m happy with the outcome though. I’ll go to town and find fresh poses tonight.
The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing. –Walt Disney Sammie says, “I’m not going to feed myself. You get up. You work. You bring me my kibble.”
Done earlier in the day. Finally decided I should do something more productive than a warm bed, good book, and great coffee today. Now I can go back to my nest without guilt.
This started out a little rough. Since I didn’t paint yesterday I felt like I forgot how. It past very quickly though and I’m happy with the way it turned out. I’m not sure if I’ll get my store fixed over the weekend. I’m in the middle of the woods, […]
*Disclaimer: Skip the third to last paragraph if you don’t like swear words.* If you know me, I’m sure you expect, “I’ve made a terrible mistake,” out of my mouth much more often than it actually happens. Luckily, most of my crazy ideas sort of work out. It’s usually when […]
The universe beat me up today. Everything went wrong. Big things, too. I made it out of Illinois, at least. I needed gas so I took an exit. I turned left when I should have gone straight so I ended up back on the interstate instead of at the gas […]
Available $125 Click Link To Purchase This one is still wet, hence the glares. I was all set to take good photos of all the paintings today, but I found my memory card and card reader. Of course I did. It would not be my life if I […]
