Sketch-A-Long

One thing I think makes sketchbooks truly beautiful, aside from the obvious, is lettering.

I am very envious of those with beautiful handwriting along side their drawings. You would never guess I spent a summer learning cursive before we had even had it in school. Or that I had a lettering book as a kid and would copy the fonts religiously. I’d do that before I ever thought about keeping a sketchbook.

I have nothing to show for my diligence. My handwriting is sloppy to put it nicely. Although, I did have to practice scribbling my signature.

There are so many books available for lettering. The one I keep telling myself I will use is this one.

I am pretty busy this week, what with the 30 paintings in 30 days, but I’m going to practice every day this week.

Lettering is another great reason to have a tiny ruler handy.
