So far Florida is only sort of living up to my expectations. Yes, I did get to wear a tank top yesterday and take the dogs for a long walk. Yes, my camp site is free.
However, you get what you pay for in this case. The camp area is small, which is fine for me, but that also means it can get cramped when a lot of others are around. When I first pulled in, every spot but one was full. I pulled in and met my new neighbors.
They are actually living here. I am too, but you are only “allowed” to stay 14 days. The people next to me have been here for at least 3 weeks. I’m being generous. It is probably closer to over a month. I don’t really care, everyone gets down on their luck and it seems like they need any help they can get. The bothersome part for me is they act like they actually own the property. They told another guy no one is allowed to stay and that no one does stay longer than the 14 days, trying to stop him from doing exactly what they are doing. They have a brood of children, which again, whatever, but they are constantly screaming and yelling and fighting and coming right up to my screen door, where my dogs are. When the adults tell them to get away, the 5 yr old girl is down right nasty and wants to know why I had to park so close to them etc.
So much for peace and quiet in the back woods.
The other down side is the place is not very pretty, but I spend most of my time in the RV with the windows open for a good breeze.
It has been warm and sunny, until today. Still better than the Midwest though. I can’t complain about the rain because it is keeping the above kids inside and everything is nice and quiet. I wouldn’t complain anyway since rain makes for the best napping weather.
I’ve been able to do a lot of catching up with the ol’ art biz. I’ve gotten a PO box. I can now have my mail bounced to me and I have something to put on all my business cards and webpages.
I updated my RV insurance this morning and have most everything covered. I still need to figure out how to get my finished paintings and business supplies covered.
I started a painting last night. It is from the February challenge on Wet Canvas. I’m trying to become more involved on forums and I love the photo.
My coach battery died last night so I didn’t have a heater for most of the very cold evening. It was in the 30’s or 40’s. Luckily, I always make sure I have a great blanket. I’m not sure why it ran down so fast. I had the car battery running for awhile in the afternoon to charge everything.
When I was in Alabama, it started raining so hard rain was pouring in through my A.C.! I couldn’t believe it. I had all the dog bowls filling up with water and all my towels trying to save my wood floors. It would stop and start, stop and start. Finally, I just had to move on and hope for the best. Luckily, even with the rain in Florida, I have not seen a repeat. I did get up on the roof and cover the A.C. with trash bags though.
