Bedroom Update

It rained the entire 3 day weekend. Monday, just as I was about to leave, there were 75 mph winds. I went to the basement instead. There may have been tacos by candle light.

Because of the rain we were very limited on what we could do. We had to wait for the rain to stop before we could cut studs. We couldn’t tie out the dogs so they had to stay in the RV while we worked.

Luckily, the rain showed us the minor leak in the bedroom.

The bedroom does not look much different. You can see, just above the water tank, the bed frame.

I actually cut the boards and metal for the frame. I am now officially a “worm drive” saw expert. Okay, not really, but let’s pretend.

The back wall. More bed frame.

The coup de grace for the bedroom. The tall cabinet, the carpet beneath the cabinet, and the last of the paneling we will remove are all gone.  The bedroom destruction is now complete and it is all about the rebuild now.  Well, there are a few places where old wood will be removed and replaced with treated wood, but for all intents and purposes the destruction is over.

Phew.

I pretty much smashed that tall cabinet out of the wall. We will try to rebuild it.

Next week we will finish installing all the new wood and new framing. Then we have to attach the frame to the siding. And fix the one leak.  I’d like to think we can get to installing insulation, but I’m trying to be more realistic in my expectations.

I am removing my awning and selling it, but more on that to come. I only mention it because that is definitely the source of the bathroom/bedroom leak and once it is removed that leak will be fixed as well.
